HBO’s Game of Thrones and IRC to launch ‘RESCUE HAS NO BOUNDARIES’ campaign

On March 15, 5th anniversary of the Syrian civil war, International Rescue Committee (IRC) and HBO’s Game of Thrones are set to launch ‘RESCUE HAS NO BOUNDARIES’, a multi-platform campaign that aims to raise awareness on global refugee crisis and raise emergency funds to rescue people who are displaced by conflict and natural calamities. The IRC is providing support to Syrian refugees in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, Serbia and Greece. Led by Lena Headey, as Cersei Lannister in the fantasy drama, present and former cast members of the popular TV series unite in urging everyone to rise up for the refugees and displaced people affected in conflicts. According to United Nations, there are more than 60 million refugees and displaced population in the world. Half of the population in Syria has fled the country.

According to David Miliband, President and CEO of IRC, we are “facing the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II.” He said that the campaign “hopes to galvanize the general public to take action and rise up for refugees.” Also joining in the campaign is the fundraising platform Omaze. For detailed information about the cause, visit http://www.rescue.org/GameOfThrones. Use #RealmToTheRescue in social media.
