A Day Of Raising Awareness On Hunger | #WorldFoodDay

World Food Day isn’t about glamorized food photography nor indulging on your next food crawl. #WorldFoodDay is about affirming our commitment to end hunger by raising awareness and engaging in meaningful activities towards achieving a zero hunger world. World Food Day was established in 1979 to celebrate the creation of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on October 16, 1945 in Quebec, Canada.

According to Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the theme for this year’s World Food Day is “Social Protection and agriculture: breaking the cycle of rural poverty.”  World Farmers’ Organisation (WFO) hopes that this will “highlight the vital role of farmers in feeding the planet and producing energy for life.”

Social protection can be defined as a range of solutions, often combined with each others, —such as work opportunities, provision of food, money and services— that are designed to support the vulnerable and help the poor in society move out of hunger and poverty. – Source: 2015 World Food Day theme – Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
