uBeam’s Wireless Charging Technology

Are charging chords on the way to extinction? uBeam is developing a wireless charging technology that converts ultrasonic waves into electrical charge to power batteries without the use of wires and wall plugs; with transmitters that reach farther distance and faster charging time. Pretty awesome!

The LA-based company headed by Meredith Perry secured a whopping $10M in a Series A funding last year. Its first product will be a transmitter that will “automatically recharge smartphones” which is scheduled for release next year.

But on the business side of things, will uBeam be able to compete with WattUp by Energous Corporation of Silicon Valley?

Consumers be the judge.
